After a restful and enjoyable summer break, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone back to this new academic year. Each school year brings new challenges, hopes and expectations and as always, much work has been going on behind the scenes to ensure everything is ready for the students arriving.
New parents have been welcomed to the school for welcome meetings and I know all staff and students will do whatever they can to help new students settle in to school life. Communication between home and school remains a priority and your Chinese homeroom teacher will be your first point of contact should you have any questions. We welcome a number of new Chinese and International staff and I am sure you will meet some new faces over the weeks to come.
Following the school’s ‘Four Journeys’, education at HIKSVS isn’t focused solely on academic progress, whilst of course this remains a priority. Through our extended offerings of ECA and club activities, rich curriculum and opportunities for school excursions and overseas travel, students are able to experience many new experiences whilst broadening their global outlook on the world around them.
Myself and the rest of the school’s management team will continue to meet regularly, discuss progress in all areas of school life and make changes where appropriate to further improve the children’s experience in school. After the introduction of our new domestic English scheme last year, older students in Year 7 and Year 8 international classes will follow a new English, Mathematics and Science program which leads directly into their iGCSE studies a few years from now.
We look forward to working closely with our HIKSVS families and students during the school year and I am sure there will be many opportunities to celebrate student’s successes along the way.
Regards
Mr Hurst – Executive Principal
