Dear Parents,
I hope that all our HIKSVS families are having a wonderful time with their families and friends over this holiday period and taking some time to rest and reflect on the year past. At this time, it is the perfect opportunity to wish you all an extremely happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!
HIKSVS has seen many highlights over the last year such as our COBIS accreditation. Our students have achieved excellent academic results and also demonstrated exceptional talent and grace in arts, sports and various cultural events. Our school has celebrated a range of parent-child whole school events and all students have progressed in line with the schools ‘Four Journeys’ of community, academic, enrichment and leadership and service. Additionally, we were delighted to welcome back Mr Thomas and Mr Buchanan to School as we continue to foster our exceptionally strong connection with SVS.
The year ahead holds much promise for us: continued expansion and growth of HIKSVS; further recruitment of highly qualified international and local staff to support students learning and development; engaging in a number of COBIS activities which will allow our students to have access to the wider world; strengthen our English offerings at school and to continue to showcase our students’ talents, skills and abilities on a local, national and global level. The above will allow students to gain deeper cultural understanding and global competencies.
We have overcome the pandemic and we can now deepen our relationship with SVS and plan activities in person – whether this is teacher networking between schools, sharing online lessons and communicating with different classes or discussing possible forthcoming student exchanges and trips. We will welcome Mr Thomas back early this year and the Advisory Council will visit HIKSVS in the new academic year.
In May I will go to London to attend the annual COBIS conference and network with other international schools who are members of this elite group, thus allowing HIKSVS to continue to stay at the forefront of new educational developments, keeping school ahead and abreast of educational changes and developments. After this conference, I will spend some time at SVS in Kent, to meet their students and teachers and to have discussions with their leadership team.
All the staff at HIKSVS are committed to providing and ensuring the best standards of bilingual and international education. It is my pleasure and honour to be Principal at HIKSVS and I am thrilled to share with you all the positive opportunities that we have ahead of us – it is a very exciting time to be a member of our HIKSVS family and 2024 looks exceptionally bright for all! I look forward to welcoming you all back to school in January and I wish all our students the very best for the year ahead.
Kind regards,
Miss Lumsden
