On Friday 7th July, our school held the "Prize Giving Ceremony of 2022-2023" in Tianjin Grand Theatre. This is a special day for every student at HIKSVS and an important moment in the history of our school. The whole school - teachers, students and parents were in attendance to witness this special occasion, to encourage the children who made growth and progress in all areas during the course of this academic year and to wish sincere congratulations to those graduating children.
On such a special occasion, our Executive Principal Mr. Hurst delivered some exciting news. After a four-day strict inspection from COBIS (Council of British International Schools), HIKSVS have been authorised as full members of COBIS and now become one of only two schools in Tianjin and one of twelve schools in the whole of China to receive this recognition. This honour belongs to everyone at HIKSVS. In the future, we will participate in a wide range of COBIS activities, competitions and awards. We look forward to the HIKSVS students continuing to shine on a bigger stage.
The "Four Journeys" are core to our school values and our school has always embedded them into daily life. It is also the direction in which each student continues to develop while learning and growing on campus and participating in various activities. This ceremony takes "Four Journeys" as our overarching theme, aiming to commend and reward outstanding students who have been able to persist and perform exceptionally well within the four journeys of Academic, Enrichment, Community, Leadership and Service.
Attainment Awards
Attainment Award refers to the academic performance of core subjects such as Chinese, Mathematics, English, Science and daily classroom performance. It is presented to students with outstanding comprehensive academic level and learning ability.
Progress Awards
Progress Award, which aims to commend students who have made great efforts to improve their studies this academic year and have achieved the greatest progress.
As an important extension to academic lessons, HIKSVS encourages students to challenge and explore their interests and potential in a variety of areas such as art, music, drama, and sports. This year, students have participated in a series of enrichment activities such as art festival, sports day, House competitions, public speaking contest, drama performances and after-school clubs.
Highest Dojo Points Awards
HIKSVS adopts the Dojo Student Behavior Management System. Dojo points are used to acknowledge children’s good behaviour, active participation and outstanding performance. This award was specially added to this year's ceremony, recognising the highest Dojo points in each grade to promote good behaviour, conduct and role modelling.
Kangaroo Maths Awards
HIKSVS children competed in the Kangaroo Maths competition, where over 92 countries are represented. Facing math enthusiasts from all over the world, HIKSVS students are not inferior and have achieved outstanding performance and fantastic results. Our school had 139 participants, winning 71 awards, including: 1 Top Gold Award, 7 Gold Awards, 11 Silver Awards, 19 Bronze Awards, and 33 Mathematical Skills Awards! Congratulations to all the award winners!
Football Awards
HIKSVS football club players have made great achievements in one game after another this year and it has also developed and strengthened our connections between other schools.
Library Awards
The "We Read" reading activities of this academic year attracted a huge amount of student participation. After evaluating the participation and performance of all students, two students have won the Library Award.
Class Awards
In order to commend the students who are actively dedicated and outstanding in the class, we have established Class Awards: The Role Model Award and Participation in class/wider school life Award. This highlights and encourage students for their efforts and good performance in various activities during the school year.
Principal's Awards
Every academic year, only two students have the honour of winning the "Principal's Award". The two awards are nominated by the Principal for recognising students who have demonstrated outstanding behaviour, courtesy, and effort in academic, enrichment, community, leadership and Service. Congratulations to Leo and Elsa.
HIKSVS House Winner
Bodiam House won the championship 2023 with the highest total score of 20176.
An ancient Chinese poetry stated “Good wind with strength, help you fly above the cloud!” Throughout the HIKSVS educational journey, there will be more opportunities for each student to be recognised for their efforts. Today, with flowers and applause, we celebrate all of our children and those who have made exceptional progress and we have concluded our academic year with this annual celebration of achievement. For our forthcoming academic year, we set sail again, hand in hand and begin yet another positive year with many celebrations ahead of us!
