Cross Country is an endurance event that allows students to choose their speed of running based on their physical condition. In England races are generally held from 2km to 10km on soft and uneven ground in the Winter months. The best way to prepare for such races is through interval running at a slightly faster than race pace. We are fortunate in having some outstanding runners at HIKSVS, both boys and girls. There are many ways students can improve their running and associated fitness. If you have any questions about how, do please contact our PE Teacher Mr Double.
Our Cross Country course this year was designed to encourage students to be resilient and try to overcome a genuine physical challenge. As with any endurance event, children's abilities and capacities will be different. We hope that your child benefitted from this experience and was able to achieve a personal goal in finishing the race in their own best. Cross Country has many benefits to other sports and is the foundation for a future healthy lifestyle.
