Over the last four years, staff from HIKSVS (both international and Chinese) have been participating in further study via the UK PGCE course and Masters Degree in Education offered by BISE (Buckingham International School of Education). Six staff have completed the PGCE course and 5 staff the Masters in Education, supported and mentored by Mr Hurst. This year, Mr Jones, Mr Roux and Mr Ryan, all successfully completed the PGCE in addition to their degree certificates.
HIKSVS has a very close link with BISE due to the fact that our own HIKSVS Chairman, Karl Yin, is also the Chairman of BISE.
The aim of BISE is to provide high quality teacher training and education for both - new teachers and more seasoned practitioners. BISE aims to combine the best of western and Asian education by adding international teaching skills to those competencies already found in the Chinese system.
The School of Education at the University of Buckingham was founded in 2002. With over 1,300 teachers and school leaders studying there in any one year, the School of Education has become one of Britain’s leading providers of teacher training and professional development. The School is led by Professor Barnaby Lenon CBE who was headmaster of Harrow School for many, many years. HIKSVS will continuously provide more opportunities for our teachers with career development.
