Mary Robertson-Barnett
Mrs Robertson-Barnett brings impressive credentials and extensive experience to HIKSVS. She holds a Master's degree in English Language and Literature from Oxford University and completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at Lancaster University. Her 30-year career in international education began right here in China, where she taught English Literature at Ningbo University in 1989, establishing her enduring connection to Chinese education. Throughout her distinguished career, she has held leadership positions at prestigious schools across the UK and internationally, expertly blending the rigour of British education with innovative approaches suited to diverse global settings.
Her accomplishments speak volumes about her leadership capabilities. As Headteacher of Lime House School, a leading small Independent School in Britain, Mrs Robertson-Barnett implemented curriculum enhancements and professional development initiatives that propelled the school to the top position in the 2019 Daily Telegraph's small school A-Level rankings, with 65% of students achieving A*-A grades. Later, as Executive Headteacher at Sherborne School Doha, she created a balanced educational environment that emphasised arts and athletics alongside academics, established diverse extracurricular activities, and fostered personalised student development.
