On Thursday 7th November Children from Year 4, 5 and 6 presented a performance of the children’s classic story of The Wizard of Oz. The wonderful facility at Meijiang campus allowed the children to perform a musical drama for the first time on stage with lights, costumes, musical accompaniment and theatrical backgrounds.
Over the last few months the children had rehearsed their songs and dialogue intensely in their activity time with Mr. Astbury and in music lessons with Mr. Dorrington and Ms. Wang. On the day of the performance the children presented the story with confidence, free from errors and had a lot of fun showing parents their dramatic skills. It was a wonderful spectacle and many were surprised at the performances of our children and how their progress in English was evident throughout the show.
Like any debut performance, there were things to build on for future productions but it was a great team effort from all those involved. Students, teachers, parents, and administration staff all worked hard to make it all come together. It was certainly another day to be proud of in the short history of the HIKSVS and one the children will remember for many years in the future. A job well done!
