HIKSVS were delighted to receive four guests from Sutton Valence School this week. Mr Bruce Grindlay, Headmaster of Sutton Valence School was accompanied by Ms Claire Corkran (Head of Sutton Valence Prep School), Mrs Jane Davies a former Head Teacher and Mrs Gillian Swaine a former senior teacher at Beneden School, Kent. Together they constitute the Governing Council for HIKSVS.
Whilst in school the team observed a number of lessons, attended an assembly, held a number of formal meetings and met administrative staff and parents. They left feeling proud of being part of the development of the school, whilst offering advice on the future direction and targets for the year ahead. The school welcomed the praise they received from the council, knowing that new goals had been set and that by working as a team HIKSVS will become an even stronger school.
This week’s assembly theme referred to the power of Teamwork where an example of a snowflake was used as something fairly insignificant in terms of size and weight until joining forces with other snowflakes to create a powerful mass that has the potential to destroy and break even the strongest structures and mountains.
Ms Corkran had the opportunity of meeting with the Yrs3&4 pupils and staff who will be visiting Sutton Valence School as part of their trip to the UK. next week. We wish them all a happy, if snowy, trip – take care, enjoy your trip and represent us well!
